Max and Chloe and great Customer Relations

The company that I work for really strives for exemplary customer service for our customers, as do most companies who want their customers to like them. Because of this, I have begun to notice aspects of other companies and their customers service; good and awful.

Over the holidays, I bought some pieces of jewelry from Max and Chloe. One of pieces (a zebra crystal ring that i still REALLY want) went on backorder right after I placed my order. Instead of just sending an email notification or not even telling me, a representative from Max and Chloe personally contacted me and left me a message to let me know about the backorder and gave me an option to order another piece of jewelry or let the order go without adding anything else.

The representative was cheery and positive during her message; no where in the message did it seem like this contact was a chore to her. This aspect of customer service can really make or break a company's rapport with their customers. They did not try to force me to do anything; they were simply notifying me and giving me options instead of leaving me wondering where my ring was.

Food, Shopping, Holler Back-again?!

Let's see, last weekend, I spent a lot of time with EJ. We met up for dinner at Fadi's on Saturday night (if you haven't tried it and there is one in your city, I suggest you do...review later)...We are really good at getting lost going to places; it's kind of funny how directionally challenged we can be some times. We definitely spent at least two hours there just talking about this, that, and the other. We ended up going shopping on Sunday (i introduced her to the magic of Kohls) and had made plans to go see Boyce Avenue on Monday. That concert was sold out, which sucked, but now that I have another concert buddy, I am happy. It's so nice to have people to hang out with and talk to. I always say this, but I wish that T and L lived closer so that we could do things like this more often.

As far as JDate, "Holler Back" guy messaged me AGAIN, after I ignored him twice...please get the hint, please! Like it's not THAT awful if you don't get a message back, I mean all of the guys that I have messaged first haven't answered me back, and I know that they've opened my messages. Whatever, their loss! I did get another message from the guy I've been talking to, I'll message him back later.

Build A Sign-My Signage

I posted a few months ago about Build a Sign and their fun signs. I wanted to share my finished sign that I received from them.

I love this sign, it is so cute and once I find a place to actually put it up, it will look even better than it does sitting on my couch. The sign is lightweight, good quality and made of metal. The colors are vibrant and bright. This is perfect to put a personalized touch on anyone's room.

The guitar and beats combine to make some of the songs fun and draw more meaning and feeling from other songs.

Private Messages, Bachelorette Parties, Dallas vs Houston

So my social update is a bit slim for the past 2 weeks; Em and I were going to hang out last week, but she had been traveling for work and was too tired. I did go to Valentines dinner with EJ and we had a good girl's night (Chili's Cherry Lime Press drink is FABULOUS! and their molten chocolate peanut butter thing..oh my gosh mmm)...Since EJ transferred, I hardly get to see her, so dinner was really fun.

I went to Houston last weekend for my friend K's bachelorette party. It was hilarious and such a great time. We spent the night in Galveston and I walked around the whole time with a penis in my purse, a penis straw, and one of those 'pecker inspector' leis.

As much as I love being in Dallas and meeting new people here, it is nights like that that make me wish t

hat I had not moved. Basically, the bulk of my close friends are in Houston, the east coast, or the west coast. Of course I woud move somewhere that I knew pretty much no one (except L and T at the beginning, and they live SO far). I miss living so close to my friends, but I know that I need to be

in Dallas right now, and I also know that L and T should move closer to me ;)

JDate happenings are kind of slim...I've been viewed by some of the guys who I messaged, but no messages back from them...WHATEVERRR! I have been messaging still with the guy from last time though, so that is that for now.

In Her Shoes

I did not see In Her Shoes when it came out in theaters and I still have not seen the movie; however, after hearing how good the movie and the book were, I decided to put it on my 'to read' list. I knew that the story was sad, but i did not think that it would touch me as much as it did.

In Her Shoes is a novel written by Jennifer Weiner. It tells the story of two sisters, Rose and Maggie, whose family was put into an estranged shock after their mother died. The sisters both reacted to their mother's death in different ways. One became ultra careful and cautious, always the one to 'rescue' her sister who had become rebellious and resistant. Their father remarried a stepmother who never made them feel good enough, which only strengthened their personalities. Their father is the only connection that they have to their mother's memory.

We also meet Ella, an older woman, seeming to have no family and just a few friends who live with her in the active senior living neighborhood. At the beginning of the book, all we know about her is that she is a very thoughtful person, she likes to write, but she does not let people in to her life very easily. We find out later what her relationship is to Rose and Maggie and how she ends up bringing peace back in to their lives.

What really got me in this book was the relationship between the sisters. I have two younger sisters and the one who is closest in age to me and I have always had a hard time getting along. Like Rose and Maggie, we are polar opposites, and like Rose, I always tried to protect my sister, sometimes getting in to overprotective territory. Like Maggie, my sister pushed boundaries to see how much she could get away with because of this. We aren't exactly like the sisters, but reading this story really made me realize how important our relationship really is.

There is more to this story and I really suggest that you pick this book up. It's kind of thick, but definitely a good read.

I feel like a lot of people don't completely understand what would happen if Mubarak resigned

YES i get that dictatorship is bad and all but

if he resigns, it will be pandemonium

• egypt goes under control of muslim brotherhood (peace and tolerance completely out)
• complete pandemonium will break out in the middle east (jordan, saudi arabia, yemen will all follow suit)
• both openings of the Suez Canal will be closed, causing gas prices to soar…double at the very least
• our terror alert will be up to neon times infinity
• and the israeli army will have to be completely mobilized as this domino reaction will put them in danger (i add this in because i have some really good friends in the Tzahal and I am always worried about them)

Backyard Heroes-Kidd Russell

One of my favorite music artists right now is Kidd Russell. As far as the music scene goes, he is extremely real, funny,and very talented. His songs can be dirty, intense, real, surreal, and hilarious. Kidd Russell is all about the Backyard Heroes. Anyone can be a Backyard Hero; it's pretty much that invincible feeling that you have when you are growing up, that you can be whatever you dream to be. These are you friends, and it brings back those times that it was okay to be carefree and to play around all day until dusk.

Famous Daves BBQ

While in Vegas, my friends and I went to dinner at Famous Dave's . This barbecue restaurant boasts itself as "real, honest bbq". This definitely was the truth. Being from Texas, I am not a stranger to barbecue meals and restaurants. Some restaurants try to make barbecue fancy, but everyone knows that barbecue is made to be deep down delicious and messy, no matter how clean you try to be.

Since I don't eat pork..or red meat that often, I usually opt for the chicken dishes at most restaurants. To some people, eating chicken at a barbecue joint is taboo, but to be honest, I am known to crave a good barbecued chicken some days. At Famous Daves, I ordered the BBQ Chicken Wings with macaroni and cheese and french fries. The meal itself also comes with bread and a corn on the cob. Even without the sides, this meal was filling. I chose macaroni and cheese beucase theirs had jalapeno in it (the only way I will eat mac n cheese unless I douse it in hot sauce) and french fries because-well, I love french fries.

The food was fantastic, and as a plus, they had my favorite beer that i NEVER find served outside of Texas (if you're a fan of dark beer and you find Shiner served at a restaurant, GET ONE!). For the portion size and quality of the food, the price was great. Famous Dave's is a great place to go and get together with your friends and have a casual, fun dinner. I really enjoyed my meal and myself there.

Icy Roads, Summer Birthdays, No Press Pass, Holler Back

So due to the snow and ice that attacked Dallas this week, even social contact in the office was minimal. I did talk to one of my friends at work and found out that our birthdays were just 10 days apart; yes, we celebrate in June, but even a birthday hating me jumps at the chance to plan a fun party with a fun friend. We have the bare outlines of a birthday party and I am really excited about it. I'm hoping that some of my out of town friends might be able to make it in that weekend as well, but who knows-that's really premature anyway.

We had to cancel and reschedule some plans that we had on Friday night because I did not want my friends driving in ice to and from my apartment in the dark. I thought because of the weather, I'd be stuck in my apartment all weekend with my only companions being my pillows and the sexy boys in Entourage and the rest of my DVR friends (sick sounding, I know, but hey it's life). The only plans I had was to go see Maroon 5 at Victory Park for that DirecTV Beach Bowl thing with E and D. So I get to their apartment and we walk over to the Victory Park area. We get in line but then find out that the concert is full. It was a free concert, but I guess we did not realize how well publicized the event was (and I think because of the weather, we thought that no one would show-woops). So we ended up not getting in-slight bummer, but we changed out plans. We ended up going to Urban Taco (review later) and then getting Yummilicous (also later) and then hanging out at their apartment. Even though our original plans didn't happen, we had a great time, though I wish that Musiqtone had press for that event, but that's wishful thinking for now. Oh, and their dog loves me :) They also gave me some ideas of apartments to look at if I choose to move out of the one I'm in once my lease is up, so hopefully that will help save me some money in rent but still be near my friends.

As for JDate, I got a few messages and views; some repeat views and some randoms. I found out that douche face lied in his message, so he is out-if you're going to lie about something so small as to when you joined the site, why will keep you from lying about everything-plus you are still 25 and douche facing in your fraternity athletic t shirt. A 28 year old in the law field (who smokes-automatic NO) told me to "holler back" because his office was slow from the snow and ice this week. He also told me that I was the reason that he got a paid membership to the website (so he could respond). I know it's limiting, but the smoking is a HUGE turn off for me (i get migraines from the smell of smoke sometimes) and I just was not really attracted to him or his message-it just sounded kind of full of himself. In the midst of that, I started messaging a guy, around 30-he sent me a nice message, his profile seemed pretty decent, and he was pretty cute as well. Besides that he thought that Musiqtone was my real job, he did seem genuinely interested in me. I messaged him back and he wrote me back. I have yet to message him back again, but so far, this is positive. We'll see how this goes.

Free Music with Quaker Chewy Bars

You know how much I love music and finding legal ways to get music for free. Until February 28 of this year, Quaker is offering a 2 free download music code in boxes of Chewy Bars. The code is printed inside the box. All you have to do is sign up and type the code into the box on their website here. They have a pretty good library and a great mix of artists that you have and have not heard of. If you eat Chewy Bars and like free music, go ahead and get yourself a box.

FourLoko, an Impressionable Market, and Pop Culture

A little after I graduated college, news stories about a drink called FourLoko started to surface. For those who have not heard anything about FourLoko, it originally was a highly caffeinated alcoholic drink; many reports stated the one can of FourLoko was the equivalent of 4 normal alcoholic drinks. The creators of FourLoko claim that when consumed responsibly (i.e. NOT more than one can, not mixing it with other drinks or drugs, etc.), the drink is perfectly safe. The creators of FourLoko also know their target market VERY well..and who doesn't; college age and underage drinkers love any alcoholic drink that will get them blitzed the fastest, so why not pregame with a can of FourLoko or two and have a few more later that night and some shots and maybe a beer or two. That's just a normal night out for some people.

FourLoko knew from the beginning how much of a hit their product would be with that market; they knew that even if the drinks were banned, they would find a way to get the drinks. Yes, FourLoko may be socially irresponsible, but hey, they are making bank, why do they care? This target market is one of the most impressionable target markets, especially in terms of alcohol and cigarettes. This situation is similar to Big Tobacco; their advertising glamorizes smoking which in turn will entice people to use the products. FourLoko advertises and quick and easy way to get to the drunken state that is associated with "real partying" currently. This drink, with the impressions of television shows and music that glamorizes underage drinking, or just drinking because being drunk is the only way to be cool or have a good time is really a perfect mix for FourLoko to be successful.

I feel that part of its success is also from the stigma that America puts on everything that is "illegal". In Europe, it is common for teenagers to enjoy a drink with their parents at dinner. They drink to enjoy, not to get drunk. In America, it seems like the common belief is that drinking means drunk, and that is bad. The stigma against it is why underage and college drinking happens the way it does. Trying to shut down FourLoko won't do anything-there's still vodka and redbull which is the same think essentially that FourLoko was until they took the caffeine out.

Now, I am not against drinking, or occasionally getting drunk; sometimes you have a little too much. I am however all about responsibility. Yes, I drank underage, yes, I still drink now and yes, I have had a few bad nights, but I have never started a night with the goal of blacking out and getting completely blitzed.
